About Me

Kim Atwell

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and a fully accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), also a professional member of The Welsh Psychotherapy Institute.

I offer either face-to-face or online psychotherapy and counselling to adults, however, face to face appointments are currently only available in Monmouthshire.

"Through my own therapy experience, I have come to appreciate that self-understanding is one of the great gifts of the therapeutic process which can bring enrichment and rewarding new perspectives."

My work and voluntary involvement over the years with charities and community projects brought a great deal of joy and purpose to my life and ultimately led to a greater commitment to being in service to others through talking therapy.

For several years I have delivered therapy in private practice and also in placements, supporting people with an array of emotional problems, from depression and anxiety, mental health issues, relationship difficulties, single and multiple life trauma, loss and bereavement, feeling lost or stuck and searching new directions.

I have developed useful skills in complex trauma having worked over several years supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse, severe neglect and domestic violence.  Loss and bereavement is also an area I continue to work in, following on from my work at a local hospice and for a national charity.  I continue to attend specialist training and education in the areas of trauma, bereavement and mindfulness. Mindfulness has held an important part in my life for a number of years and also forms an integrative part of my clinical work, when required.

I have advanced DBS clearance for working with vulnerable adults.
